GRPS are used to reduce and regulate the pressure of natural gas or other non-aggressive gases, as well as for technological and commercial accounting of gas consumption in gas supply systems of residential, industrial and agricultural facilities. GRPUS are made in a cabinet and on a frame.

The GRPU includes the following main equipment:

• gas filters for gas purification from mechanical impurities;
• gas meters such as SG-16M, RVG, TRZ, SVG and others registered in the state register of measuring instruments, including with electronic correction of gas volume (-EC) using electronic correctors such as EC-260, CNG-721, etc.;
• gas pressure regulators such as RDU-32, RDGD, RDG, RDBK1, RDNA, RDSK and other regulators approved for use;
• safety shut-off valves;
• safety relief valves;
• shut-off valves;
• pressure gauges for visual monitoring of the working pressure of the measured gas at the inlet and outlet;
• heating system (from a gas heater, from an external source or from electric heaters in explosion-proof design);
